The challenge
The compound had three separate camera systems installed at different times by different contractors, none of which recorded for more than four days. Security staff could not review an incident from the previous week, and the existing conduit was already full.
Our approach
We surveyed all three buildings, reused every serviceable cable run rather than pulling new ones, and consolidated onto a single recorder room with a sized storage array. Retention was calculated from the actual bitrate at the actual resolution, not from a supplier chart.
The outcome
Thirty days of retention across all 48 channels, one interface for the security desk, and no trenching. Two of the three original systems were recovered and folded in; only the perimeter run was replaced.
